WisDems: Underwhelming primary performance from “underwhelming” Eric Hovde
MADISON, Wis. — Last night, Eric Hovde, who Republican operatives have referred to as “underwhelming,” and who Congressman Glenn Grothman said was running a “terrible campaign” lived up to his moniker and had an underwhelming performance in the GOP primary, losing more than 75,000 GOP votes.
Hovde faced “nominal” opposition in the GOP primary, outspending his GOP primary opponents 450:1, including $13,000,000 of his own money, but Hovde lost more than 1 of every 10 GOP primary voters last night and came in well under 90%.
As Hovde continues to underwhelm national Republicans and his unfavorables continue to go up and up and up, it’s no surprise that even tens of thousands of GOP primary voters are rejecting an out-of-touch California bank owner who insults every Wisconsinite between Kenosha and Superior.
Overall, it was a rough night for Republicans, as both GOP-backed referendums were defeated and their hand-picked California bank owner Senate candidate was rejected by tens of thousands of their voters.
