WisDems: On first day of early voting, Green Bay, Superior leaders urge Wisconsinites to make a plan to vote

GREEN BAY, Wis.  Today in Green Bay and Superior, on the first day of in-person early voting, candidates, elected officials, and community leaders encouraged Wisconsinites to make a plan to vote early for Democrats up and down the ballot. Wisconsin voters can visit vote.wisdems.org to find their nearest early voting location.

Speakers highlighted Vice President Harris and Democrats’ plans to lower costs for Wisconsin families and safeguard our fundamental freedoms. Local candidates and leaders also laid out how a second Donald Trump term will be even more dangerous than his first – with his extreme Project 2025 agenda to raise costs, roll back reproductive rights even further, and give himself unchecked power.

“Voting is safe and convenient here in Wisconsin, and we are excited to celebrate today’s opportunity to get to the polls and make our voices heard,” said Mary Smith-Johnson, chair of the Douglas County Democrats.

“I’ll be joining thousands of students in casting my first ballot for Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz,” added Isabella Lyste, University of Wisconsin Superior student who introduced Governor Walz at his September rally and is voting for the first time in a Presidential election.

“We’re standing in front of Green Bay City Hall, one of seven early voting locations open across the district today,” said state Senate candidate Jamie Wall. “Any registered Wisconsin voter can vote early at a designated location in the town, village, or city you live in.  All you need is a photo ID. By voting early, you’ll ensure that your vote counts, no matter what might come up for you on Election Day.”

“I encourage all Wisconsinites to get out and vote for Vice President Harris and Democrats up and down the ballot. Vice President Harris and Democrats are fighting to cut taxes for the middle class, for our public schools, for affordable childcare, and to expand affordable healthcare in Wisconsin. We are fighting to protect and strengthen reproductive freedom across our state,” said state Assembly candidate Christy Welch.

“I encourage all Wisconsinites today to make a plan to vote early. We are in front of Green Bay City Hall, which is an early voting location for Green Bay residents. I live in Ashwaubenon, where residents can go to Village Hall to vote,” said state Assembly candidate Ryan Spaude. “Remember, you’re not just voting for people – you’re voting for our community and our children’s future.”

“It is clear that in recent weeks, Donald Trump has become increasingly unhinged and unstable. A second Trump presidency would be a disaster and even more dangerous than his first term,” said state Assembly candidate Amaad Rivera-Wagner. “Regular Wisconsinites like us simply cannot afford Donald Trump.”
