WisDems: ICYMI: Wisconsin Democrats announce starting lineup campaign blitz to retake the state Legislature, launch website dedicated to campaigns

MADISON, Wis. — Today, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler joined Senate Democratic Leader Dianne Hesselbein and Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer to launch the Democratic Starting Lineup, a game plan to win back majorities in Madison by flipping key seats across the state. 

After thirteen years of wielding near unchecked power, Republican politicians in Madison are facing accountability under fair maps this November. The Democratic Starting Lineup is rushing for victory this November to build a Wisconsin that works for everyone. 

WisDems also unveiled a website featuring their “Starting Lineup” candidates as part of their campaign blitz from now to Election Day.

Senate Democratic Leader Dianne Hesselbein: “Today we are rolling out our starting lineup with districts and races we see as crucial to ending the Republican reign of terror over our state government. […] Wisconsinites have gone to the polls time and again to reject the do-nothing Republican agenda, and for the first time in over ten years, not even the GOP’s gerrymandered lines will shield them from accountability in November.”

Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer: “This year, the Wisconsin Assembly Democrats are on offense with fair maps that offer a clear path to the majority in November. […] For too long, communities across Wisconsin like Sheboygan, Wausau, Superior, and the Chippewa Valley have had their voices silenced through gerrymandering—but thanks to the tireless work of volunteers, organizers, and our Democratic leaders who never stopped fighting for fair maps, we finally have competitive races in many more communities across the state.”

WisDems Chair Ben Wikler: “For 12 years every election cycle, Democrats started at the 30-yard line because of gerrymandering, but now the era of gerrymandering is over, and the game starts at the middle of the field like it’s supposed to. […] Defending our democracy is no longer going to require a hail mary pass; we’ll be able to move play by play all the way to a touchdown.”
