MADISON, Wis. — On Wednesday, WisPolitics reported that the Wisconsin Assembly and Senate Democratic Campaign Committees far outraised legislative Republicans’ campaign committees in the first half of 2024, with the Assembly Democratic Campaign Committee reporting $2.8 million to the GOP’s $960,000 and the Senate Democratic Campaign Committee raising nearly $2.7 million to Republicans’ $585,000.
In response, Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer, Senate Democratic Leader Dianne Hesselbein, and Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler released the following statement:
“The numbers don’t lie: after over a decade trapped behind gerrymandered lines and shut out of the Legislature, Wisconsinites are eager to finally have fair representation in Madison. These fundraising efforts reflect the excitement Democrats in the Badger State hold for flipping our GOP-controlled Legislature and prioritizing issues—such as child care and reproductive health—that the GOP has long forgotten. Wisconsin Democrats are committed to working shoulder to shoulder to bring true representation to Madison and build a brighter future for Wisconsin families.”

The Assembly and Senate Dems’ campaign committees significantly outraised their GOP counterparts over the first half of the year, fueled by seven-figure donations from the state party.
The Assembly Democratic Campaign Committee reported $2.8 million raised between Jan. 1 and June 30 through its main account, compared to the $959,899 the Republican Assembly Campaign Committee pulled in.
Still, RACC reported $4.5 million in the bank, compared to the $2.1 million the ADCC had at the end of June.
Meanwhile, the state Senate Democratic Campaign Committee reported nearly $2.7 million raised, while the Committee to Elect a Republican Senate pulled in $585,175.
The SSDC also had a cash-on-hand advantage with $2.1 million, compared to CERS’s more than $1.1 million reported.
The state Dem Party gave Assembly and Senate Dems $1.5 million each over the period.

The SSDC spent $781,324 with $225,000 of that transfers to committees. CERS spent $39,637.
Meanwhile, the ADCC spent just over $1 million with $500,000 of that a transfer to Rep. Steve Doyle, D-Onalaska. His western Wisconsin seat is considered one of the only GOP pickup opportunities under the new maps.
RACC spent $206,248 with $100,000 of that a transfer to Republican Ryan Huebsch, who is running against Doyle again after losing by 2.6 percentage points in 2022.
The fundraising totals are a significant uptick for the Dem caucuses with new maps in place for the 2024 elections.
In July 2022 — ahead of the last election run under GOP-drawn lines, ADCC reported $405,695 raised over the first half of the year while the SSDC reported $303,398.
