Wisconsin’s average gas price drops below $3 per galon | Wisconsin
(The Center Square) – Wisconsin is one of a large group of states that saw its average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline drop below $3 over the past week.
The average price was listed as $2.97 by the American Automobile Association on Monday. The Costco gas stations in Menomonee Falls and Pewaukee were listed at $2.59 along with the Kwik Trips in Sussex and Colgate to tie for the lowest prices in the state listed on GasBuddy Monday late morning.
The average price per a gallon of gas was below $3 in 18 states as of Monday.
The average gas price in the state had dropped from $3.07 a week earlier and $3.37 on Aug. 16.
The nationwide average price was $3.15 on Monday, a drop of 6.9 cents from a week before, according to GasBuddy analyst Patrick De Haan. It’s down 26.2 cents from Aug. 16 and 70.5 cents from Sept. 16, 2023.
“With the change to winter gasoline happening today at most stations across the country, the outlook is bright for the national average to continue to make a run at falling to $2.99 per gallon for the first time since 2021,” De Haan wrote. “But while nearly all states are seeing prices drop, refinery maintenance and some outages at California refineries have led to tight supply and rising prices—a situation I hope can be remedied by the end of the month and help California join in on the decline.”
Texas ($2.68), Tennessee ($2.69) and Mississippi ($2.69) have the lowest average prices while California ($4.68), Hawaii ($4.58) and Washington ($4.07) had the highest average prices, according to GasBuddy.
