Shankland campaign: MoveOn endorses Katrina Shankland for Congress as part of top tier battleground slate

Leading Democrat for Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District included in $32 million to defend Democracy against Project 2025 takeover

STEVENS POINT, WI – The members of MoveOn, the two million-member strong national grassroots organization, has voted to endorse Democratic leader and State Rep. Katrina Shankland to unseat MAGA extremist Derrick Van Orden in Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District. Shankland joins a slate of 21 top tier battleground endorsements as part of MoveOn’s $32 million election program this year.

“MoveOn members know that Donald Trump’s extremism spreads from the top of the ballot to the bottom, and we have to secure our majority in the U.S. House to protect working people from more Republican chaos,” said MoveOn Political Action spokesperson Britt Jacovich. “Our members endorsed 21 progressive champions who will prioritize a people-first agenda to empower our communities while ensuring our rights and freedoms do not collapse at the hands of Trump’s Republican Party and their Project 2025 plan.”

“I am proud to be running a pro-worker, pro-democracy, pro-reproductive freedom campaign to take on extremist Derrick Van Orden — and win — so the people of Western and Central Wisconsin are represented by a member of Congress who has their backs,” Shankland said. “I have the record and experience to deliver for workers, farmers, and families. This is our most competitive red-to-blue opportunity in a crucial swing state, and I’m excited to work with MoveOn members to flip the 3rd together.”

MoveOn’s endorsement builds on Shankland’s momentum. This week, the House Majority PAC announced a $4 million investment into Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District. Shankland has now amassed endorsements from Wisconsin’s Democratic Congressmembers Mark Pocan and Gwen Moore, neighboring Congressmembers Eric Sorensen (IL-17) and Betty McCollum (MN-4); former Congressman Dave Obey; the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO; 16 unions; more than four dozen state and local elected officials; and four other national groups, including the League of Conservation Voters, End Citizens United, Social Security Works, United Rural Democrats, and the Progressive Change Committee. Head-to-head polling shows Shankland is the only Democratic candidate who beats Van Orden in the general election this November, 48-46%.
