Rep. Stubbs: Named Outstanding Legislator byWisconsin Counties Association
MADISON, WI – Yesterday, Representative Shelia Stubbs was presented with the Wisconsin Counties Association’s Outstanding Legislator Award: 2023 – 2024 Legislative Session, an award given to legislators who have shown commitment and leadership in championing county interests in both the legislature and in their districts. Representative Shelia Stubbs (D-Madison) released the following statement:
“I would like to thank the Wisconsin Counties Association for honoring me with the Outstanding Legislator Award and for the critical work they do to advocate for the needs of our Wisconsin county governments.
Having served on the Dane County Board of Supervisors for 16 years prior to becoming a state legislator, I have a great appreciation for the integral role that local and county governments play in empowering and providing services to our communities. I also had the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Counties Association from 2014 to 2015, where I chaired the Judicial and Public Safety Steering Committee, and serving as the Vice Chair of the Law Enforcement Committee on the Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee for the National Association of Counties.
From healthcare to natural resources to public safety, decisions made on the county level have a significant impact on the policy we create on the state level. Ensuring that counties have the resources and support they need to act on issues concerning the welfare of their constituents is a priority to me. In my role as a State Representative, I am committed to hearing and addressing the concerns of county governments so that together we are able to shape a better Wisconsin for all.”
