Madison — Representative Donna Rozar (R-Marshfield) has been recognized by multiple groups for her leadership and accomplishments on several issues for this legislative session.
First, Representative Rozar has been named a “Friend of Family Medicine” by the Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians. She received this award for her continued work strengthening the practice of family medicine, increasing access to care, and ensuring patient safety. Representative Rozar’s nursing career provides her with background knowledge necessary to lead on healthcare issues that benefit Wisconsinites.
Representative Rozar also received the “Early Detection Life Saver Award” from the Early Detection Saves Lives Coalition. The coalition gave this award to Representative Rozar for her support of legislation promoting early detection of breast cancer (AB 117). This Bill requires insurance policies to cover supplemental breast screening exams or diagnostic exams for an individual who is at increased risk of breast cancer.
The third and final recognition Representative Rozar received this week was the Wisconsin Primary Health Care Association and Family Health Center of Marshfield naming her a “Champion of Community Health Centers.” Representative Rozar earned this recognition though her leadership as Vice-Chair of the Assembly Committee on Health, Aging, and Long-Term Care as well as a member of the Assembly Committee on Workforce Development and Economic Opportunities to ensure Community Health Centers have the resources needed to continue meeting the health care needs of rural Wisconsinites. Representative Rozar was previously recognized for her leadership on issue related to community health centers in the 2021-2022 legislative session when she was named “Community Health Center State Grant Champion” by the Wisconsin Primary Health Care Association.
“I am honored to receive these awards,” said Rozar. “I do not legislate to achieve awards, rather to continuously serve the people of Central Wisconsin. These awards are a reminder that good policy is good politics, and the policies I advocate for in Madison are beneficial to my constituents and all Wisconsin residents. I will continue to fight for increased access to affordable quality health care for rural Wisconsinites and policies that improve our general well-being.”
