Pekrul, WWII veteran and Milwaukee native, addresses RNC

Sgt. William Pekrul, a World War II veteran from Milwaukee, told attendees at the RNC this evening “America is still worth fighting for.”

Pekrul, 98, enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17. He was injured during the assault on Normandy in June 1944 and stayed at an English hospital for 42 days. He was honored with two Bronze Stars and a Silver Star for his service in the war.

“It hurts my heart to see what our current president and vice president have done to the country I love so well,” Pekrul said, adding the administration “humiliated us” in Afghanistan and “let our own southern border get overrun.”
