Media outlets call Wisconsin for Trump
Multiple media outlets have projected Donald Trump will win Wisconsin, putting the Badger State back in his column four years after narrowly losing it to Joe Biden.
Along with the call on Wisconsin, several outlets projected the former president will defeat Kamala Harris for a return to the White House.
With 97% of the vote in, Trump had a nearly 42,000-vote lead on Harris.
Fox News was first to make the call that Trump would win Wisconsin. Other outlets waited until after Milwaukee’s central count reported its results. That narrowed the gap significantly.
Heading into Election Day, the Real Clear Politics polling average had Harris plus-0.4 percentage points over Trump.
Trump continued to show slippage in suburban areas, getting 59% of the vote in Waukesha County, down from the 59.6% he won in 2020 while losing to Biden statewide by 20,682 votes. But he made up for it in a string of rural areas.
Trump in 2016 and 2024 and Ronald Reagan in 1984 are the only Republicans to win Wisconsin’s electoral votes in the last three decades.
