Hovde ads declare Baldwin a ‘liberal snob,’ ‘third senator from New York’

GOP U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde is up on the air with two new TV ads, including one that calls U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, a “liberal snob.”

The narrator in the ad asks if viewers remember when Hillary Clinton called them “deplorable.” It then plays a clip of Clinton’s remark from the 2016 campaign.

The narrator adds, “Well, Tammy Baldwin hates you too.”

The spot then plays Baldwin’s remark from the 2016 state Dem convention in which she called Trump “one of the most offensive and hateful and unacceptable presidential candidates we’ve ever had. So what does that say about the people who support him?”

The spot then closes with the narrator calling Baldwin a “liberal snob.”

Hovde is running the spot through his joint fundraising committee, which requires a pitch for donations at the end.

The second spot, from Hovde’s campaign committee, charges Baldwin would rather be in New York at the $7 million condo of her “life partner.”

Hovde has regularly faced attacks for his $7 million home in California and ownership of a bank there. The narrator in the new ad says Baldwin’s life partner Maria Brisbane is a Wall Street exec who advises the “super rich” how to make money off industries Baldwin regulates.

The narrator adds Baldwin “doesn’t get home to Wisconsin most weekends” because she’d rather be at Brisbane’s condo, and that’s why New Yorkers have given her more than $1.3 million.

The spot concludes, “Tammy Baldwin is not Wisconsin’s senator anymore. She’s the third senator from New York.”
