High demand for early in-person voting slows WisVote website
The Elections Commission says the website problems the agency had due to demand on the first day of early in-person voting created a “period of slowness” for some clerks.
Many clerks use the WisVote website to print out labels that can be placed on the outside of in-person absentee ballot envelopes. The crush of requests to print out the labels slowed down the system.
The agency said it worked with the Division of Enterprise Technology to tackle the issue and noted clerks had the option to affix information to the absentee ballot envelopes by hand with a pen.
The commission later today will report the first numbers shared by local clerks on the number of in-person absentee ballots cast yesterday.
