GOP megadonor Hendricks tells RNC American Dream under threat

Beloit billionaire and GOP megadonor Diane Hendricks at the RNC in Milwaukee tonight said she is “living proof that the American Dream is possible with hard work and determination.” But she said that dream is now under threat.

Hendricks said she got pregnant with her son at 17 years old and worked two jobs as a single mom to pay the bills. She said when she met her husband, Ken, they risked everything to start construction supply company ABC Supply, which now employs more than 22,000 people.

“So to all of you aspiring entrepreneurs out there, if I can make it, you can make it, too,” Hendricks said. “My success story as a teenage mom without a college degree was only possible because I was so blessed to be born in the United States of America.”

Hendricks said the American dream has been under threat since President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris took office, citing rising prices, increased regulations and tax increases.

“I know how hard it is to build a company from nothing and we need a president who understands that, too. We need a builder back in the White House,” Hendricks said, calling former President Donald Trump a “fighter.”

Biden campaign spokesperson Kristi Johnston in a statement today knocked Republicans for labeling Hendricks an “everyday American” on the list of speakers for today’s session.

“Diane Hendricks is a Republican mega donor worth $21 billion and easily one of the richest people in Wisconsin, and Trump and the RNC calling her an ‘everyday American’ shows how out of touch they really are and who they are working for,” Johnston said.
