Carpet Bagger Eric Hovde Proves To Be A Whiny Fraidy Cat Conspiracy Spinner – Blogging Blue

This article is behind a firewall at JSOnline: Thomas Leager is running for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin. He claims ties to Whitmer plot. It was written by Daniel Bice who is the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s deep dive political writer. Now the headline is already interesting enough on the face of it…but it’s the subplot that I think is actually the lede that I want to talk about.

Carpet bagger and California banker, Eric Hovde is again running for the US Senate from Wisconsin. This time against incumbent Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D – WI). Hovde is a deep shit MAGA radical in the mold of Senator Ron Johnson (R – Kremlin). And it has been hard to tell which one of them has the wackiest take on the world and real life and which one is the most compulsive liar. It wasn’t always apparent how indebted Hovde might be to conspiratorial thought but this Thomas Leager article says Hovde can give Johnson a run for his money…which is substantial in both of their cases.

I am going to quote Bice here and let his writing do the talking…but if Hovde really thinks and works like this not only do we NOT want him representing Wisconsin in Washington, but his bank’s board of directors might want to review his status with the bank. Here goes:

Republican businessman Eric Hovde was baffled why a guy named Thomas Leager was running as a U.S. Senate candidate for the America First Party.

Then it all came together for Hovde, who is taking on Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin this fall.

“The Democrats have put on the ballot for the Senate race a candidate who’s under the brand ‘America First,’” Hovde told conservative talker Jay Weber on WISN-AM (1310) on July 22. “I was like, ‘Who the hell is this?’ Well, we finally did the investigation. It’s a Democrat plant to try to siphon off votes from me.”

Hovde concluded that Democrats “will stop at no level to hold on to power,” including putting Leager on the ballot. The GOP candidate ripped the media for not reporting on these political hijinks.

Interesting, huh? Except Leager said Hovde is peddling pure fiction.

“That’s absolutely not true,” Leager said.

First, Leager, 37, is to the right — far, far to the right — of Hovde and most everyone else. A former lobbyist for the Wisconsin Gun Owners Inc., he said people call some of his ideas “extreme.”

But here’s the real kicker. Leager claimed he was an unindicted co-conspirator in the failed plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer back in 2020 with the hope of overthrowing the state government. The scheme received widespread attention as an example of domestic terrorism shortly before the last presidential contest.

So there you have it…wtf…those Republicans sure are weird!
