Biden campaign: Trump ally in Wisconsin wants to ‘Work our way back’ to the 1960s if Trump is reelected

In a U.S. House of Representatives floor speech yesterday, MAGA Republican Rep. Glenn Grothman said he hopes the country would “put together some sort of plan” to “work our way back to where America was in the 1960s” under a second Donald Trump presidency.

Like Donald Trump, Grothman has praised the overturning of Roe v. Wade. He also attacked child care programs because “they’ve taken away the purpose of the man to be part of a family. And if we want to get America back to, say, 1960, where this was almost unheard of, we have to fundamentally change these programs.”

Trump and his MAGA Republicans allies have detailed their plans to bring us back to the 1960s through Project 2025 which was created by The Heritage Foundation –a sponsor of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee next week.

Trump’s Project 2025 will:

  1. Gut our system of checks and balances to give Trump virtually unlimited power to be a dictator on “day one.”
  2. Ban abortion nationwide, jeopardize access to contraception, and monitor women’s pregnancies.
  3. Prosecute Trump’s enemies and turn the civil service into a Trump loyalty force.
  4. Cut Social Security and Medicare and end health care protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
  5. Defund government agencies like the Department of Education.
  6. Make it easier for employers to avoid paying their workers overtime, while giving handouts to billionaires and big corporations.

The following is a statement from Wisconsin Coordinated Campaign 2024 Rapid Response Director Kristi Johnston:

“MAGA Rep. Grothman has made it clear what Trump would do if he’s reelected: take us and our families back to the 1960s. Wisconsinites aren’t going back and we can’t afford Trump’s Project 2025 agenda, which would give him virtually unlimited power over our everyday lives. We need to come together and reelect President Biden to take us forward, not backward.”
