Biden campaign: Announces $1.5 million partnership with Black-owned newspapers across the country
Today, Biden-Harris 2024 is announcing a $1.5 million partnership with the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA), which houses some of the nation’s most prominent and historic Black-owned newspapers from across the country. This partnership is part of Team Biden-Harris’ historic investments in Black media – which are the earliest and largest investments for any reelection campaign in history.
For generations the Black press has ensured Black Americans remain informed and engaged on the issues that matter most in the community. From the Civil Rights Movement of the sixties to the nationwide racial reckoning of 2020, NNPA papers have led the way in providing news from a Black perspective specifically.
The partnership comes in the form of a $1.5 million investment that will strengthen the efforts of NNPA members, many of whom are Black-owned small businesses, and help ensure Black America understands the stakes of this election.
President Biden and Vice President Harris have made good on the promises of 2020 and delivered historic progress for Black America. Given the long history and legacy of the Black press of America – this group of publishers are the perfect messengers for the existential threat Donald Trump poses to Black communities.
NNPA leadership noted of the partnership “The Biden-Harris Campaign is being responsive to interests of Black America through the campaign’s advertising initiatives with the National Newspapers Publishers Association. The Black vote throughout the United States will be a key determinative factor to the outcome of the 2024 national elections. We profoundly thank the Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign.”
The following is a statement from Biden-Harris Black Media Director Jasmine Harris:
“In August of last year, our campaign announced the earliest and largest investment into Black media for any reelection campaign in history. This partnership with the NNPA is a continuation of those efforts, and will strengthen our work in meeting Black voters where they are, to underscore the stakes of this election for Black America.”
“President Biden and Vice President Harris are responsible for creating millions of new jobs for Black workers, and achieving record low Black unemployment. Black America has far too much to lose this election. We welcome the Black press of America in this fight.”
