Baldwin ad refutes claims in spots targeting her over transgender issues

U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin is up with a second ad addressing spots that knock her on transgender issues, this time more directly refuting the claims.

GOP businessman Eric Hovde and those supporting him have run a string of spots accusing Baldwin of supporting sex change surgeries for minors and providing funding for an organization that “pushes an aggressive LGBTQ agenda on kids without parental involvement.”

Republicans across the country, including former President Donald Trump, have run ads focused on transgender issues in their races

Baldwin’s first spot hitting back at the attacks last week featured a narrator saying Hovde’s ads have been called false “time and time again” while headlines from fact checks of the attacks were shown on the screen.

The new Baldwin spot opens with the ad showing Hovde and screenshots of his ads on transgender issues, as well as those accusing her of a conflict of interest because her partner is a Wall Street financial adviser and doesn’t disclose her assets.

The narrator says, “We all know what Eric Hovde is trying to do, falsely attacking Tammy Baldwin by questioning her personal life, and Eric Hovde’s trying to scare you.”

The narrator adds the truth is no sex change surgeries take place on minors in Wisconsin and Baldwin didn’t give fundraising to a transgender clinic, adding it’s actually a “youth homeless shelter.”

“Eric Hovde is a billionaire banker who thinks he can lie about anything, but Wisconsin’s better than Eric Hovde,” the narrator says to close the spot.
