Baldwin ad knocks Hovde over comments on single parents
U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin’s latest TV ad knocks GOP rival Eric Hovde for his comments on single parents.
The campaign said it’s part of an ongoing buy that will run statewide. According to AdImpact, Baldwin has $817,864 in ads reserved this week. Overall, Baldwin and the groups backing her are spending $1.8 million, compared to $1.2 million by Hovde and those supporting him.
In the ad, several speakers say they’re proud children of single mothers and one is incredulous that Hovde thinks if you have a single mom, “you’re going to be poor or a drug addict.”
The ad plays a clip of Hovde in an interview saying, “That is a direct path to a life of poverty… it leads to higher drug rates.”
The people in the ad call Hovde ignorant, saying they’re successful because of their moms and learned their work ethic from them.
“What is wrong with this guy?” one speaker asks to close the spot.
