The Working Families Party (WFP) proudly endorses Ryan Clancy for re-election to State Assembly District 19 in the upcoming August 13 Democratic primary.
“Ryan Clancy is a progressive champion who delivers results,” said Corinne Rosen, WI WFP State Director. “On the County Board, he authored and passed 26 separate pieces of legislation. In the State Assembly, he has consistently fought for progressive values despite severe gerrymandering and gridlock.”
Milwaukee Alderperson and WFP leader Marina Dimitrijevic praised Clancy’s dedication, stating, “From the County Board to the State Legislature, Ryan Clancy is an effective champion for public education, voting rights, workers’ rights, women’s rights, and LGBTQ rights.”
County Supervisor Steve Shea, who collaborated with Clancy on the Board of Supervisors, commended Clancy’s leadership: “Ryan introduced groundbreaking legislation, including the Right to Shelter and the Right to Counsel, to tackle the housing and eviction crises affecting the Milwaukee area.”
Rosen highlighted Clancy’s extensive experience as crucial to his advocacy for the 19th Assembly District. “In high school, he was recognized as the ‘Young Civil Libertarian of the Year’ by the ACLU. He served in the Peace Corps, worked as an MPS teacher and union representative, and is now a small business owner. Ryan brings a comprehensive understanding of the entire community,” she remarked.
Ryan Clancy is a lifelong activist, organizer, and advocate. He has consistently defended civil rights and social justice while standing up for his community. In these challenging times, we need proven, disciplined leaders. Ryan Clancy is the right person for this position.
Ryan Clancy has also been endorsed by a growing group of organizations including: AFT Local 212, AFSCME, ATU Local 998, BLOC, Citizen Action of Wisconsin, Fair Wisconsin, Milwaukee Autonomous Tenants Union, Mom’s Demand Action, Our Wisconsin Revolution, Planned Parenthood WI, UAW, Wisconsin Conservation Voters, Wisconsin Education Association Council, Wisconsin Muslim Civic Alliance, and Voces De La Frontera Action.
His opponent has been getting criticized for failing to show up to vote in several recent important elections including the 2023 WI Supreme Court Election between Janet Protasiewicz and Dan Kelly, the 2022 US Senate Race which Mandela Barnes lost by a razor thin margin to Ron Johnson, the 2022 WI Governors race between Tony Evers and Tim Michels and the 2021 WI State SuperIntendent election between Jill Underly and Deborah Kerr.
