MADISON – Today, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin introduced the “Hospital Stability and Health Services Act” (“HSHS Act”). Under this proposal, hospital systems planning to close would be required to notify the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and create a plan, with community input, to connect patients to accessible care.
Rep. Jodi Emerson (D-Eau Claire) expresses support in the following statement:
“I am thankful for Senator Baldwin’s consistent willingness to listen to our community and fill in the gaps that legislative republicans have refused to acknowledge”, said Rep. Emerson. “While we continue to wait for state action to address the needs of our community after the closure of HSHS, this legislation offers hope for better protections and preparedness moving forward.”
