Biden campaign: Team Biden-Harris ramps up voter outreach and campaigning in July

Kicking off in Madison, Team Biden-Harris Announces New Travel for July

Jumpstarting Door-Knocking and Organizing Programs Throughout Summer

$50 Million Paid Media Buy Targeting Battleground Voters

As President Biden kicks off a weekend swing to the blue wall states of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, Biden-Harris 2024 and the Democratic Party are executing an aggressive, targeted campaign to reach the voters across the battleground states who will decide this election. Buoyed by our record-breaking $127 million fundraising haul in June, we are leveraging our substantial infrastructure advantage over the Trump campaign and RNC with new efforts on the ground to organize and mobilize voters, strategic new paid media efforts, and an aggressive travel schedule led by President Biden. These include:

  • A $50 million paid media blitz over the month of July, targeting key, high-impact moments that draw in a broad, diverse audience like the Olympic Games.
  • An aggressive travel schedule which will include the President, Vice President, First Lady, and Second Gentleman traveling to every battleground state.
  • An organizing program will hit more than 3 million doors across the months of July and August and continue its innovative relational organizing efforts.
  • And while MAGA hate and extremism will be on full display at the Republican National Convention, Team Biden-Harris will be focused on doing the critical outreach to our diverse coalition that wins elections.

$50 Million Paid Media Blitz for July

Team Biden-Harris is investing in a $50 million paid media blitz for the month of July, including strategic investments around key events that draw in large and politically diverse audiences like the 2024 Olympic Games and the Republican National Convention.

Targeting voters in battleground states on TV, radio, and digital, the July paid media campaign continues the work of Team Biden-Harris to break through a crowded media environment and meet voters where they are on the issues that will decide this election: a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions, economic relief and opportunities for middle- and working-class families, and the threat Donald Trump poses to our democracy and the rule of law.

Throughout July, Team Biden-Harris will also capitalize on pivotal high viewership and politically diverse audiences, including last night’s Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular and The Bachelorette season premiere. Team Biden-Harris will also make targeted and key investments for the Olympic Games on NBC. The Olympics, which are popular among every demographic and increasingly popular among Gen Z, will be a critical moment for Team Biden-Harris to reach a wide swath of the voters this campaign needs to win in November. Team Biden-Harris will also leverage other key moments this month, including the Republican National Convention, where Trump and his extremist agenda will be under a national spotlight.

In addition to the 45 interviews the President has already conducted this year, and his sit down interview with George Stephanopoulos today, the President will continue to focus on national, local, and constituency media interviews, including in Black and Hispanic media, this month. The President can also be expected to engage in frequent off-the-cuff moments over the course of the month, as he has consistently throughout this campaign, including most recently at a Waffle House where an organic video has garnered well over 28 million views and counting.

Hitting Every Battleground State

Throughout July, President Biden, Vice President Harris, Dr. Biden, and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will travel and campaign across the country to highlight the Administration’s accomplishments and bring the message and issues that matter most to voters directly to them with both official and campaign events.

Following his campaigning in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania this weekend, President Biden will return to Washington, D.C. for the NATO summit, where he will continue to demonstrate strong US leadership as we unite our allies. The President will deliver a keynote address and participate in a press conference in his official capacity. As soon as the summit concludes, he will get right back on the campaign trail with a swing through the Southwest focused on engaging Black and Latino voters.

While MAGA extremism will be on full display at the Republican National Convention, the President will travel to Las Vegas for the NAACP and UnidosUS conferences. The President will continue his campaign push this month to the critical blue wall states.

The President will be joined on the trail by Vice President Harris, Dr. Biden, and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff. For example, Vice President Harris will speak at ESSENCE Festival of Culture on Saturday in her official capacity, before traveling to a campaign event in Las Vegas on Tuesday. All in all, over the course of July, the four principals will travel to every battleground state.

Knocking Over 3 Million Doors and Increasing Our Organizing Presence

Team Biden-Harris’ organizing program will make a $17 million dollar investment to bolster our existing field efforts to knock on over three million doors in July and August. This investment will allow us to build on our major battleground infrastructure advantage over the Trump campaign, including over 1100 battleground staff and more than 270 field offices, and help break through to voters who are not yet tuned in to the election.

These efforts will build on the Democratic Coordinated Campaign’s existing organizing programs that just saw their strongest supporter engagement week of the campaign with volunteers completing more than 23,000 volunteer shifts. Additionally in key battleground states, the coordinated campaign is partnering with down-ballot campaigns and all of the teams’ canvassers and volunteers will talk to voters about how Democrats are fighting for them in the White House, Senate, House, State Capitals, and beyond. Collectively, these efforts scale to a monumental canvassing effort that dwarfs the Trump campaign’s battleground state infrastructure.

These efforts will complement our commitment to new, innovative efforts to break through and reach voters in different, impactful ways. For example, last month, the Democratic coordinated campaigns announced new efforts to engage Latino voters around the Copa América soccer tournament with house parties and other watch parties, in addition to having the Vice President, Dr. Biden, and Second Gentleman participate in Juneteenth block parties, Pride parades, and Dobbs Anniversary events. This month, the campaign will build on these innovative efforts. This weekend, for example, volunteers will be marching in parades across the country in their neighborhoods, tabling at movie nights in the park and farmer’s markets, and meeting their communities where they are.

Focusing on the Backbone of the Biden-Harris Coalition

This month, while MAGA hate and extremism will be on full display at the Republican National Convention, Team Biden-Harris will continue engaging the diverse groups that make up the backbone of the Democratic Party.

During the Republican convention, President Biden will speak at the NAACP and UnidosUS conferences in Las Vegas in his official capacity. On Saturday, the Vice President will speak at the 30th ESSENCE Festival of Culture in New Orleans in her official capacity. Also this month, Vice President Harris will speak at the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’s 71st Boulé and the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.’s Grand Boulé in her official capacity.

At these events, the President and Vice President will have the opportunity to speak directly to  a diverse array of Americans and outline the historic work their administration is doing to fight for them – whether it’s historic small business creation by Black and Latino entrepreneurs, capping the cost of insulin for seniors and lowering health care costs for Black and Latino Americans, or increasing representation in critical positions in government. The President and Vice President will remind the communities about the important promises made and promises kept to improve their everyday lives, what’s at stake in this election, and their vision for a more prosperous future.

This month the Biden-Harris campaign will also continue its efforts to mobilize its coalition with the launch of programs targeting AANHPI voters and veterans and military families, with more still to come.

Bottom Line: This will be a close race, decided by battleground voters who require consistent time, outreach, and attention. While Donald Trump is on the golf course, we are putting in the work to reach critical voters and frame this election as a choice between Joe Biden – a fighter for American families – and Donald Trump – a convicted criminal who is running a campaign of revenge and retribution focused only on himself.
