Chicago PD – Restored – Review : I Like The Idea That You Can Be Restored

Another character focussed episode this season that absolutely delivered. We are starting to round out the season and unless the next five episodes are awful which based on their current track record I can’t see happening then this season will definitely be in my top 3 seasons.

I love that despite it being focussed mainly on Torres we got to still see a bit of the team and they each had their own moments to shine. I loved the two small moments Ruzek had this episode because he didn’t know what certain slang or shortened words meant. And seeing Voight’s soft side when consoling Malik’s dad. Those moments bring the episode together perfectly.

I have really enjoyed the journey that we have seen Torres go on this season with his faith after what happened last season. Him being able to discuss with Malik why he had things in his car was a big step from where he used to be, and the ending of this episode really showed that he is slowly getting back to his faith. I think it’s been such a lovely journey to see him go on.

Torres has also opened up over time and he is letting a lot more of his softer side show whilst on the job, he still keeps the tough guy exterior when it is needed but especially when he was talking to Iyana at the end of the episode his demeanour was so caring.

The relationship between Torres and Imani has been a really beautiful journey to watch, I think they are both very similar and it’s been really nice to watch their friendship develop to the point that they can have deeper chats like they did in this episode about restoration.

If I’m honest relatively soon into the episode I thought it was quite clear that Malik had hit on Cam’s sister and was expecting it to be a pretty straight forward case, she was younger and therefore Cam had taken revenge for it. I genuinely never could have conceived what actually happened, it completely caught me off guard when Torres was explaining what had happened.

Overall this was a really poignant episode for Torres and I think a lot of who he is becoming will continue to incorporate cases like Odell Morgan and this one. He is slowly shaping who he wants to be as a cop and as a person, I can’t wait to see where we get with him by the end of the season, moving into season 14.
