Abigail Swetz, Executive Director of Fair Wisconsin, Wisconsin’s only statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights and political advocacy organization, issued the following statement regarding the outcome of the 2024 Wisconsin Senate election:
“Senator Baldwin has dedicated her life to the people of Wisconsin. She is an essential voice in the Senate, and the voters of Wisconsin have decided to keep her there.
In a race where her opponent tried to use members of our LGBTQ+ community as weapons, Wisconsinites showed up to reject hate and lies as a campaign strategy and instead re-elect Senator Baldwin, a champion for LGBTQ+ equality.
Senator Baldwin is kind, empathetic, hard-working, and always focused on doing what is best for Wisconsinites in every corner of our state. We are grateful for her leadership and thankful she will continue to represent the state of Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate.”
