Weekly Dem radio address: Gov. Evers encourages Wisconsinites to get enrolled in healthcare coverage during open enrollment period
Hey there, Wisconsin! Governor Tony Evers here.I believe every Wisconsinite should have access to quality, affordable healthcare.
I kept my promise and withdrew Wisconsin from a Republican lawsuit that would’ve gutted the ACA and threatened care for thousands of Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions.
And we’re working to make sure healthcare, including reproductive healthcare, mental and behavioral healthcare, and prescriptions, are affordable and accessible to all.
Here in Wisconsin, we’re also working to expand BadgerCare, which would provide healthcare coverage to nearly 90,000 Wisconsinites, while improving health outcomes and bringing inbillions of dollars for our state.
Thanks to folks like President Biden and our Senator Tammy Baldwin, Wisconsinites across our state can get high-quality, affordable healthcare coverage through the Affordable Care Act.
Fourteen years ago, the ACA transformed our country, ensuring millions of people right here in Wisconsin have life-saving healthcare coverage.
And last year, we saw a record-breaking number of enrollments in healthcare coverage through the ACA, with a record-setting more than 254,000 Wisconsinites enrolled on the individual marketplace.
Thanks to the president’s Inflation Reduction Act, 89 percent of those Wisconsinites enrolled in a plansaw reduced costs. And of those who qualified for a premium tax credit, the average person saved over $500 on their monthly premiums. That’s a really big deal, folks.
The Inflation Reduction Act also helped lower prescription drug prices for seniors on Medicare, including capping insulin costs at $35 per month.
Every Wisconsinite deserves access to quality, affordable healthcare. So don’t wait! Open enrollment begins November 1st, so head to Healthcare.gov to explore your options, see if you qualify for cost savings, and find the right plan for you and your family. Happy open enrollment, Wisconsin!
