Hovde ad again knocks Baldwin for not disclosing partner’s assets
GOP U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde is again hitting Dem U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin for not disclosing the assets of her partner in a new TV ad.
The spot plays a clip of Baldwin from a 2009 hearing in which she said since married members of Congress must file information about their spouse’s financial assets, then “surely” it’s in the public interest to require the same of partners of gay and lesbian office holders.
The spot then shows a clip of Baldwin in the debate with Hovde saying he should “stay out of my personal life.”
“After 26 years in Washington, Tammy Baldwin is in it for herself. Not us,” the narrator says. “It’s time for change.”
Baldwin isn’t married to Maria Brisbane, a New York financial adviser who has been the focus of multiple ads in the Senate race.
According to AdImpact, Hovde and those backing him had $22 million in reservations over the final two weeks of the race, while Baldwin and those backing her had $14.9 million.
