IRG Action Fund: Presents award to Rep. William Penterman for outstanding advocacy on teacher apprenticeship bill
MADISON, WI: Today, IRG Action Fund presented Rep. Penterman (R-Columbus) with the ‘Champion for Kids’ award for his work last session and his exceptional efforts authoring and advocating for the teacher apprenticeship bill.
What Happened: Representative Penterman authored Senate Bill 917 last session, a bold reform with the goal of helping solve the teacher shortage with ‘teacher apprenticeships.’ Unfortunately, Governor Evers vetoed this bill in order to roll out his own vision for teacher apprenticeships in Wisconsin. IRG Action presented Rep. Penterman with this award in recognition for his work on this bold reform.
The Quote
“Rep. Penterman’s proactive approach on the teacher apprenticeship bill is what is needed to ensure that our schools are equipped with skilled and passionate educators,” said Chris Reader, Executive Vice President of IRG Action Fund. “We look forward to continuing to support teacher apprenticeship opportunities in Wisconsin in the future.”
