Vertz Ray Appointed SOWI CFO & COO

MADISON, Wis. – Special Olympics Wisconsin is proud to announce the appointment of Janel Vertz Ray as the organization’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Operations Officer (COO). With an impressive track record in nonprofit financial leadership and a deep personal commitment to inclusion, Janel brings both expertise and passion to her new role.
Janel joins Special Olympics Wisconsin with more than a decade of progressive experience in finance and operations within the nonprofit sector. Her background includes managing complex operating budgets exceeding $13.2 million and capital budgets up to $25 million. She has successfully led large-scale initiatives, including acting as an owner’s representative on new construction projects, and has overseen system migrations to streamline operations and improve data accuracy.
A Certified Nonprofit Accounting Professional (CNAP), Janel also holds a Master’s degree in School Business Administration, further solidifying her foundation in financial stewardship and operational excellence. Her commitment to equity and advocacy for individuals of all abilities perfectly aligns with the mission of Special Olympics Wisconsin.
