College students call out Eric Hovde for demolishing the Silver Dollar Tavern & insulting young people – WisPolitics
MADISON, Wis. —Today, college students at the University of Wisconsin–Madison held a press conference outside the remnants of the Silver Dollar Tavern, the beloved bar that California bank owner Eric Hovde (R–Laguna Beach) tore down earlier this year. At the press conference, the students discussed Hovde’s long record of insulting young people and college students, and his company’s demolition of the Silver Dollar Tavern, which was one of the oldest family owned bars in the state of Wisconsin until Hovde knocked it down.

“We need to elect a Senator who actually understands Wisconsin––its culture, its people and economy, and who’s actually from Wisconsin in the first place. I mean shutting down the Silver Dollar? Criticizing alcohol? What is wrong with this guy?” said Jeff, a student at UW–Madison.
Hovde has insulted countless groups of Wisconsinites, including young people and recent college graduates. He’s also responsible for the demolition of the Silver Dollar Tavern, and has advocated for a ban on alcohol sales, while running to represent Wisconsin.
