Try This Time-Saving Browser Technology Hack
Maybe there are some of us out there who still feel a sense of hope when they read the phrase “technology hack,” but having taught pre-, during-, and post-Covid, I am sadly not one of them. I found that most of the technology hacks that teachers claim will save me SO MUCH TIME are actually not all that much more convenient. Their tip is just something that works for them. Don’t get me wrong, I am very happy about the collaborative spirit we’ve all gained from the virtual nightmare Covid was, but everyone truly found what worked best for them. Not everything was gold.
I can’t lie, though, when I say that I saw this particular technology hack and was like, “WHAT?! Why did I not know about this?!” TikToker @c0urtziee shares a little treat for all of us starting up our computers every morning!
She uses this Chrome technology hack to pull up all the tabs she’ll need that day with one click!
Check out this golden nugget:
Every single morning, I would plop down at my classroom computer and use muscle memory to double-click on my favorites tabs for the websites that needed to be pulled up for the day. Some of us probably open 10 different tabs each and every morning! If we utilize @c0urtziee‘s technology hack, all we would need is one simple double-click to a Google Chrome tab and all of our tabs would pop up! (Listen, I am now even implementing this hack on my personal laptop—all of my emotional support tabs open at once! Four different email accounts, Wall Street Journal, Canva, Amazon, calendars … all there!)

Some of these teachers offer some bonus tips too!
Several other teachers and students commented about ClassLink as essentially doing the same thing. Whatever works best for you!
A shout-out from Google? Pretty cool, @c0urtziee!
OK, YES, I used to do this my first year of teaching because I was so ready to leave at the end of the day. But it doesn’t always work. Sometimes those old-school computers do a harder reset and restart than others. All my poor tabs!
This is a solid idea too. Thank you, fellow teacher!
See, here we all are again in the spirit of collaboration! Whatever works best for you! 🙂
I definitely wanted to add @smashley‘s comment because it is topic specific, and every teacher should know it!
@c0urtziee’s technology hack is more than just a shortcut—it is an improvement in efficiency for every teacher’s morning. By allowing all necessary daily school tabs to spring to life with a single click, this simple Google Chrome setting can save you some precious time setting up in the morning. Incorporating this technology hack could make a difference in how your day starts, especially for you efficiency junkies! So, give this a try and customize it to fit your daily tabs. Like me, you may wonder why you didn’t know about this golden hack before.
